While this Sauvignon Blanc does have some grapefruit notes, they are much more subtle than those from New Zealand. The climate in California is warmer and the sugars ripen quicker than the flavors, so the farmers tend to leave them on the vine for longer so that there are green flavors. As a result, this means the grapes lose their acidity and are frankly fatter and jollier than the more crisp and intensely fragrant versions from New Zealand.
