"Fauxjolais is a clever collaboration between Sommelier Ewan Mackenzie and Christina Von la Chevallerie of Huis van Chevallerie. Hard to believe but this is produced from 100% Pinotage, vinified carbonically, a la bright, crunchy Beaujolais. If I'm being perfectly honest, the signature markers of Pinotage (coffee bean, burnt rubber, burnt coffee) usually just don’t suit me, but this is totally different--more akin to outstanding Beaujolais Villages. Bright red fruit: cherries, wild strawberry and plum harmonize amongst a structure this is surprisingly, outstandingly crushable."
