"Hailing from Castelnuovo Beradenga, this historic Chianti Classico property is situated between the Felsina and Castell’in Villa. As the story goes, for many years this was considered to be one of the most prized, if not the most prized vineyards in Chianti, however through the 70s and 80s the domaine had fallen into great disrepair and was in need of some serious TLC. Along comes Felsina—one of the most respected and storied names in the region. Having tasted the wines it seems utterly apparent that these guys have restored the farm back to its former glory. This is old school, offering up a high concentration of sappy tart black cherry accompanied by layer upon layer of tertiary complexity: dusty earth, forest floor, antique books. I love this style—riddled with nostalgia. Never hefty or overbearing…just genuine, soulful handmade Sangiovese. This is the perfect accompaniment for light and rustic pizza pasta combos. Drink it up now and over the course of the next 5-8 years I’d say."
