"This is new and exciting. The Cote de Duras is a small appellation in France’s Southwest that, like Marmandais, brushes up against the South of Bordeaux. And like Marmandais--the Cote de Duras incorporates many of the same grape varieties that you’d find in Bordeaux. Besides a vineyard, this domaine is a proper farm--producing strawberries, honey, vegetables, and livestock. This bottling is an assembly of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Malbec produced from 40+ year old vines. The resulting wine is ravishing--offering generous trappings of fresh foraged berries, spice box, cedar, and truffles on truffles. I can imagine this would be an incredible pairing for hangar steak with pink peppercorn vinaigrette, cow’s milk cheese, and charcuterie. Just over 400 cases produced.
