"Fresh, lively red and black plums, cassis, and warm, damp soil followed by warm spices and a lingering finish of cedar cigar box and cured pipe tobacco. On the palate, the fruit shows ripe and full, yet fresh. Soulful, peppery earth comes through on the finish, and the tannin is young, but not astringent or aggressive; beautifully balanced by barrel aging and battonage. An outstanding bistro wine, my first thoughts to pair are steak frites and burgers, but it’d be perfect with roasted squash, lentils, cassoulet, or even Bolognese."
