"If you've been around lately, you probably know by now that Chris Brockway of Broc Cellars is making some of my favorite wines in California right now. These wines are crunchy, zesty, err on the side of low alcohol, and are produced by and large from organically farmed grapes using little to no sulfur and spontaneous fermentation. 'Got Grapes' is a hodgepodge of red wine barrels combined in perfect harmony. The final blend is a suave amalgamation of Barbera, Syrah, Carignan and Dolcetto. The final blend incorporates bits and pieces from almost every vineyard Broc Cellars works with across California. Chris makes this bottling as a lighter and fresher kind of wine that can be enjoyed with a chill, making it the perfect summer red. The end result is peppery and lifted, bringing forth brambly black berry and black olive tapenade -- reminiscent of Pineau d'Aunis. No need to get it super cold though, just one hour in the fridge seems about right, until 50 degrees or so. Pair it with anything salads or fajitas to veggie shish kebabs. So versatile."
