"Fat Cat is back! Fat Cat 420 is a remnant of the now former Fat Cat Pie Co, a Norwalk wine destination/pizza restaurant that happened to be a short walk down the street from where I grew up and a place that's at least partially responsible for getting me hooked on the study of wine. For the first time ever with the 2021 vintage--Fat Cat 420 is sourced from France from the village of Douzens which is in Corbieres in the Launguedoc-Roussillon. It is produced by a local organic farmer--Domaine Regazel (neighbor of Colline de Hirondelle--the producers of Oiseau) and produced mostly from 50+ year old Carignan vines rounded by bits of Grenache and Syrah. A medium+ body is layered with the signature tangy/grapey notes characteristic of Carignan: black cherry, dusty earth, black olives, black tea, black pepper and just the right amount of tannin for the season. Probably my favorite rendition of Fat Cat 420 yet."
